Working on the musical production of High School Musical Jr. for Center Stage Inc. was an exhilarating experience that allowed me to combine multiple facets of my creative skills. From the moment I was brought on board, I knew this project would be something special.

Creating the Program

The journey began with designing the program. I started by meeting with the director and production team to understand their vision and the key elements they wanted to highlight. High School Musical Jr. is vibrant and energetic, so I aimed to capture that spirit in the program. I designed a colorful, dynamic layout that included cast bios, behind-the-scenes snippets, and a welcome message from the director. Each page was crafted to reflect the fun and excitement of the show, ensuring that the audience would be just as thrilled flipping through it as they were watching the performance.

Photographing Actors’ Headshots

Next, it was time to photograph the actors’ headshots. After scouting the venue, I found the perfect spot on-site and worked with each cast member to capture their best angles and expressions. Knowing these photos would be used in the program and other promotional materials, I focused on bringing out each actor’s personality and enthusiasm for their roles. The photo sessions were lively and fun, helping the young actors feel at ease and confident.

Creating Advertising Materials

With the headshots and program underway, I turned my attention to the advertising materials. This included banners, flyers, and social media posts to generate buzz and excitement around the production.

  • Banners and Flyers: For the banners and flyers, I used bold, eye-catching colors and dynamic layouts that mirrored the energy of the musical. The actors’ headshots were prominently featured, along with essential details about the show dates, venue, and ticket information. I made sure the design was consistent across all formats, creating a cohesive look that would be instantly recognizable to anyone in the community.
  • Social Media Posts: Social media was a key component of our promotional strategy. I created a series of engaging posts, including countdown graphics, behind-the-scenes photos, and sneak peeks of rehearsals. Each post was designed to capture attention and encourage sharing, helping to spread the word about the show far and wide. We also ran targeted ads to reach parents, teachers, and students who would be most interested in attending.
The Final Result

As the show dates approached, the advertising campaign was in full swing. The community was buzzing with anticipation, thanks in part to the vibrant and engaging materials we had put out. On opening night, the venue was packed, and it was incredibly rewarding to see all the hard work come to life. The program was a hit, the banners and flyers had drawn in crowds, and the social media posts had created a real sense of excitement and community involvement.

This project was a true testament to the power of integrated creative efforts, from design and photography to advertising and social media. It was an honor to contribute to the success of High School Musical Jr. and to see the joy and excitement it brought to the young actors and the audience.
